FAQ's

What’s the Difference Between a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Counselor and Life Coach?

The biggest difference between each of these titles, is dependent on the training and expertise of the practitioner. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who generally emphasizes medication as a primary treatment approach. A counselor earns a Master’s degree in counseling being trained and certified to offer many services in mental health. A psychologist is a doctor of psychology; earning the highest degree and level of training in mental health. A psychologist is a specialist with significantly more training, supervision, research, and experience in providing assessment, therapy and treatment interventions. The field of life coaching is less regulated and could be anyone who desires to help others transition and/or build a productive life. Dr. Crawford is a practicing psychologist.
